I've seen more WD's (and Maxtors too) turn into bricks than I care to. I have an IBM "DeathStar" DeskStar IDE drive in my newest workstation at home. It's fast, but a bit noisy (it is a 7200rpm drive). For SCSI drives, I've had good luck with both IBM and Seagates. The high-end Quantums are OK, I've been bitten by several of the low-end Quantums. WD and Maxtor don't even make SCSI drives any more. -dc
