If you can get network to it in any form, the Slackware network install 
over NFS works really easily.  7.1 should boot in 8MB.

Below 8MB, use the lowmem.i boot image and try using Slackware 3.3.  It 
still has the disk sets if you want the time and pain of copying them over.
