Business

Installfest
- Dave C to bring a 24 port switch
- need a dedicated burner box
- somebody to bring solaris and some other distros

Gnomedex
- no one stepped forward to investigate

Some guy from GuideOne will give a presentation on howto samba from big IBM
iron.  
- Thoughts of dialing in from the meeting
- possible field trip?

Presentations
- Kevin says evolution sucks.
- Presentation for LDAP?
- proxyarp (sp?) and iptables
- howto configure a nic to setup a dhcp server
  o if running mandrake, update to 8.2.  At the cli type in "setuptool" and
run "connection sharing" and it will set everything up for you.  Including
ipforwarding.

Today's presentation - Firewire under linux
- 1394 can talk to 2 non computers
- 1394 is isynchronous, gets things talking better than usb
- can daisy chain a whole pile of them
- different kinds of connectors - a 4 pin and a 5 pin.  5 pin carry power.
- if the firewire connection doesn't work the first time around, give
restart a try
