Yes, I am skeptical of those tests as well but I guess I forgot to post
the results of a simple FTP test that I ran yesterday. I downloaded a
1MB file from my home ftp server to each of the following office
machines: 

linux1 = 140.02 seconds 11 kilobytes/sec 
linux2 = 447 seconds 3.2 kb/s -- 417 secs 3.5 kilobytes/sec 
linux3 = 154 seconds 9.3 kb/s 
NT1 = 100.8 seconds 14.72 kb/s 
NT2 = 100.95 seconds 14.70 kb/s 
NT3 = 101.97 seconds 14.55 kb/s
