| [Cialug] wireless nic dns issue? |
I'm having an odd issue with my laptop running linux & using a wireless nic (an orinico silver) using the wvlan_cs driver module. The laptop is running Mandrake 8.2. I'm connecting to the WAP and getting dhcp... on a 10.0.0.x network. The WAP is a dlink di-614+ which is getting a dhcp IP from my linux server, on a 192.168.0.x network. On the laptop the /etc/resolve.conf has: nameserver 10.0.0.1 ... which is the "inside" IP of the WAP. However, I can't seen to resolve IP's if I do a ping, open a browser or anything. I can do a "dig" and it returns proper results. If I plug the laptop into one of the wired ports on the linksys router / WAP and get a 10.0.0.x address, it all works OK. If i reboot into Win2k, and use the wireless card or the ethernet cable, it all works OK. Bryan B. was using the same NIC & AP the other day on a laptop running knoppix, and he was having the same problem. I've checked the route on the laptop, and it's fine. I've also tried manually editing my /etc/resolve.conf an used both my linux firewall which does caching dns, and my main dns server with the same results. Is there something specific I would need to do make the DNS resolve differently since I'm using the wireless card since I'm using the wireless card? I noticed that there's a patch for the orinico driver (mentioned in the kismet docs), I wonder if I need to run that patched driver? -dc _______________________________________________ Cialug mailing list Cialug@xxxxxxxxxx http://cialug.org/mailman/listinfo/cialug
