How do I experiment with monitor resolution in Mandrake 9.1? What area of KDE can one go to?
This is one area where Linux / Xwindows is really different than MS Windows or MacOS.
You need to set the resolution of Xwindows. KDE is the "desktop environment" that runs on top of Xwindows (XFree86 in most cases) and controls most of the "look and feel" aspects, but Xwindows controls the actual resolution and low-level aspects.
In mandrake, run the "drakxconf" utility as root user, and choose "display
settings" to change your resolution and color depth settings.
